House history update.

While searching online today I came across Mr. Cummings death certificate.  I guess His middle initial is wrong on ancestry.com, though the other info. they had listed for him is all correct. The cert. lists  his death in 1911 and his home address as our current. :)
Can anyone make out his full cause of death?
The ink on his certificate is smeared... Any help would be appreciated.

Summer Time

Lots of things growing around and ON our house. I'm pretty sure they built it on an Indian burial ground or something....
This is going to be a battle. The whole side of our house is COVERED in vines of all types. {including English Ivy} It runs all the way up 3 floors to the attic and into the gutters. How THE HELL am I going to get that crap out of the gutters?  I would kill it with fire but i'm pretty sure that would take the house as well.
On the other hand Caleb's garden is growing beautifully and my strawberries and salvia are doing good too. The grape vine that runs the length of our yard has produced  a ton of grapes. They are about the size of Pistachios in the shell at the moment, and they are all still green. We can not wait for them to ripen so we can make WINE and jams. I'm thinking of creating custom labels for the wine so we can give them as gifts to our friends...
Any ideas as to what we should name our vinyard/ brewery? :)

Suki got into a bag of flour. NOM NOM NOM!
Baby deer mouse I was feeding for work.
DADDY! I think the raccoon babies have bonded with caleb's slippers. :)
Throat wound for the zombie apocalypse bbq. ( 1st attempt at a latex wound.)
Michelle's back wound. ( my second attempt with latex)
 MMMM Suki, you smell DELICIOUS!
Caleb had this under his shirt one morning last week. I have not been able to sleep since.

Reupholstering fun.

Caleb and I got this chair, it sits a little lower than most and it is wider. Spiffy!
I just don't care for the blonde wood, or yellow flowers... Let's dissect this bad boy!
Oh hey! The original seat cover.... MUCH better color.
TADA! Now out to the yard with a little spray paint...
AND HERE'S THE NEW CHAIR!!! wait... Suki! Get outta the way you ham!

Move in UPDATE!

So far we have battled the war of the wisteria and WON. It was covering the whole porch, pretty yes, but also destructive. (I'll just stick to the mature grapevines in the back yard. Yum!)
We FOUND A PATIO! Hahahah. I know sounds odd, but i started raking and hit stone about a half inch down. TADA! PATIO! We ended up removing all the stones and using the as a walkway from the garage to the back porch.
Caleb built his above ground garden bed from all the leftover wood that had made up our adult bunk bed.  Not                   "Adult"  in a pervy way, "adult" as in 8 feet tall with a closet under it.        * sigh* May it rest in pieces.
As you also may know.... WE GOTTA DOGGIE! Suki's the name and being a pain in the ass is her game.
The cat has since disowned us and has became a creature that only crawls out of its basement layer in the cover of night. Creepy little bastard.
I have painted the downstairs bathroom white with black trim, it used to be PURPLE AND PERIWINKLE BLUE with 3 layers of hideous camping themed borders. I could not stand the travesty any longer.
Before and after pics soon to come!

I painted the lower bathroom right away, (it was baby blue and egg plant purple) It looks MUCH better now.
Also i got a puppy I adopted from work, she is quite smart and a handful.
MORE UPDATES TO COME!  And pictures!

Cardboard And Packing Tape

We signed a Pre-Closing possession form today at the house. (That means TOMORROW we start moving in!)
The house looked so much bigger and more beautiful once it was empty. I CAN NOT wait to start decorating!
Monday after work i get to bring home the newest addition to our little family, "Suki".
She's a shepherd mix and about 6 months old. I have waited so long for a dog, It's going to be great!
It all feels extremely surreal .  I may not update for a while, but I will asap once the internet is hooked up at the new house.
Now.....Back to packing!

Leaning Tower Of Chimney.

So the inspector initially said every thing was awesome and that he would buy the house if we didn't. Now that i have the printed inspection form it says the chimney has a 10 degree tilt. Should that be a deal breaker? He didn't mention it as a major concern to us when we asked him for major structural flaws...
Please tell me what you think!!! Buy or not to buy?

A little research...

So we are expected to close on the house in march or so, and since I am
VERY excited about this I did a little research on this house.
I found the census from 1900 listing our new address and its occupants. NEATO!
George S. & Hattie Cummings lived there in 1900, they had 7 children. He was from New Hampshire, And she was an immigrant  from england. The census also lists his occupation, their children,(living or dead) If they had schooling, if they could read or write and other neat info. I wish I could find a picture of one of the family members! This is something I will continue to work on. Below is a copy of the original census, the family and house is under number 39. (click to enlarge)

Here is the snippett pertaining to the house.
I Also found this listing in a google book, Charles C. Cummings, as his emergency contact, listed Hattie as his mother, and her address.

Well thats all for now! I will be sure to  add more if I find it!

I think I may vomit.

The inspector is done and he said its in GREAT shape and to go for it! Though while we were having the inspection done someone put a bid on the house. :(
 *crushed*
I am about to leave now to put our bid in. I HOPE WE GET IT!  Please wish us luck!

A little rough around the edges.

So Caleb and I drove around our potentially future neighborhood today. It was a little rough around the edges. Should that put us off from buying? We checked the crime reports, past and current of the area, and nothing really goes on in the vicinity. I think if the Little old lady who lives there is safe we will have no problem... What do you think?

SOLD!

No not the house... the car. And it sold for more than we paid for it 2 years ago. Money is in the bank and the loan is being processed. I am hoping that the loan goes through (the banker thinks it will be  no problem) and the house has no major defects. Caleb and I are exited about the chance to build a cobb fire place in our possible new back yard. *squeal*

Meanwhile...

Gorgeous

So Caleb and i had a walk through today at the old victorian. :O
Drop dead gorgeous inside. Functioning pocket doors in every room on the main floor, Gorgeous hand carved mantle, and original finish on the door frames, which are in beautiful condition. (Dark honey colored pine) All original pine floors, which need a lil' TLC but i kind of like the worn in charm they have.
The chandelier in the kitchen is begging to be cleaned, it will be stunning all polished up.
The main floor bathroom has a small claw foot bathtub, just to soak in. Its ADORABLE!
The upstairs has a newly renovated bathroom , full size claw foot bath, new tile/ toilet, and a stand up shower in the corner. (which was poorly installed by the home owner, and caused water damage to the ceiling in the parlour down stairs.)
I'm hoping that the reason they have not sold the house yet is NOT because of a huge structural problem of some sort, and that it is still on the market  due to the current owner being a border line hoarder,( It is hard to look around her things, which are stacked to the ceiling, and see the gorgeous house hiding underneath.) The house has been on the market since July 27th of 2010.
To get approved for this loan, according to our bank ( we want a 10 year mortgage ) we will have to sell my 1960 El Camino. *Sob*
